Pupa Bar / Restaurant

Yat Limani No: 217, 48700 Marmaris, Turkey

The Pupa Bar/Restaurant is located on the water front almost equal distance between the Mermaid Statue and Netsel Marina. There is also an entrance from Bar Street which makes it easy if you decide to continue your party on Bar Street late at night.

The owner, Şahan, and his staff are friendly and efficient and soon learn your preferred drink so it doesn't pay to visit if you don't intend to have a drink because you will find one of the staff approaching with your regular drink in hand - actually that's okay also because it gives you all the more reason to sit down and join the gang.

In addition to the bar, they also offer a restaurant service which is both very good and inexpensive at the same time. A great idea if for some unknown reason you have missed a meal at home by over staying an afternoon visit.

The Pupa Bar is a great place to meet people who make Marmaris their home during all seasons of the year as Pupa is one of the few bars open winter and summer. If you enjoy live music, Pupa is the place for you as live music is on offer two times a week - one night of local music with the other night offering a mixture of old and new. Come, listen and enjoy! Who knows? You might learn to appreciate the Turkish rhythm.

Additionally there is a pool table which is in steady demand and a
group of regulars who have established several nights mid-week as their "pool nights" which attracts a fair sized group of both men and women. There is an organized competition open to all on Wednesday evening. It's a good way to meet new people around the pool table.

The Pupa Bar has a steadily changing supply of foreign language pocket books and magazines available on a "take and return" basis.

It is also one of the bars which regularly fill with local football fans when there is an important match - football is one of the sports in which both Turkish and ex-pats seem to find common ground -
it is not unusual for every chair in the bar to be filled with people glued to the TV while the match is underway.

In addition you can play mini-golf or darts. Free internet is also available inside. Check your e-mails, read the news and send greetings from Pupa.

All in all, The Pupa Bar is a pub away from home for many and the centre of their social life especially during the long winter months once the busy summer season is over and life settles down to normal, well, not exactly normal but as normal as life in Marmaris ever becomes.

This is the place to go if you are looking to
meet ex-pats who have settled in the Marmaris
area if only to learn about their experiences,
both positive and negative, so you can avoid
the pitfalls yourself. You will find the clients of
The Pupa bar friendly and approachable and
most will be more then happy to meet and
make new friends, even if only over the pool table.
